Also known as Licorice Basil, Persian Basil plants contain the natural compound anethole, which gives anise and star anise their strong, distinctive licorice flavour. The plants have bright green leaves with a silvery sheen, and deep red flower bracts for extra visual appeal. Enjoy this variety in patio containers or in the herb garden along side regular basil varieties. This basil has quite beautiful pink flowers that are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators.
